Application: Letter

Adoro escrever e adorei fazer a minha cartinha, busquei modelos e dicas em outros blogs para ter inspiração e claro que nada mais justo do que fazer o mesmo por quem está neste processo.

Li em muitos blogs meninas que escreveram a carta em português e depois traduziram. Eu não fiz isso pois, particularmente, não acho bacana traduzir. Meu curso de inglês não traduz e eu aprendi que "quem traduz não aprende", então fiz diferente, já fui direto pro inglês.

Não, não sou fluente nerd e muito boa no idioma, usei dicionário e tradutor sim, mas a carta é simples, eu se fosse vocês ia direto pro inglês também, serve como desafio e treino!

A minha letter ficou com nove parágrafos mas isso é muito relativo, por exemplo, se eu tivesse mais alguma experiência com criança provavelmente minha carta teria um parágrafo a mais.

1º parágrafo: falei meu nome e idade, onde moro e descrevi minha família, membro por membro, idade e o que faz.

2º parágrafo: foquei mais em mim, características, o que eu estudei e o que eu costumo fazer na minha rotina.

3º parágrafo: continuei falando sobre mim, na realidade eu só separei do parágrafo anterior para não ficar muito longo. Neste parágrafo eu falei sobre hobbies e religião.

4º parágrafo: comecei a falar sobre as minhas experiências com crianças, aqui eu coloquei mais ou menos uma introdução para os próximos parágrafos (que também falaram da experiência com criança).

5º e 6º parágrafos: continuei falando das experiências com crianças, agora mais detalhadamente, o que fazia com cada crianças, a idade deles, tudo.

7º parágrafo: escrevi sobre a minha decisão de me tornar Au Pair e o que me motiva para seguir por esse caminho.

8º e 9º parágrafos: ambos são bem pequenos e é apenas uma finalização na carta, agradeci por terem lido e disse que estava aguardando o contato deles.

Bom, em resumo, foi assim que dividi a minha letter, vou compartilha-lá com vocês porque realmente ficou mais fácil escrever a minha quando vi outras. Mas não me copiem em meninas? Até porque não sou fluente e tenho certeza que minha carta possui erros, rs...

Hello dear family!

My name is Larissa and I’m 22 years old. I live in a small town called Americana, in a countryside of São Paulo, Brazil. My mother’s name is Maria and she is 63 years old, my father’s name is Gentil and he is 72 years old, both are retired and live with me in Americana. I have a brother and a sister, but both live in São Paulo city, where I was born too. My sister’s name is Cristiane and she is 43 years old, she is married and works with tourism and events. My brother’s name is Fernando and he is 39 years old, he is married and is photographer. My family is very important to me and they always support me, now isn't different, they are supporting me to do the Au Pair program too.

I consider me a focused, responsible, caring and adaptable person. I graduated last year in Business and did a technical course in Graphic Design too. Now, I work in a company in the business area, help my mother to do the household chores, go to the gym every day and study English twice a week. I often go to the work by car and a like to drive since that I got my license.

In my free time I like to do many activities. I usually read books, watch series, cook, go to the shopping with my mother, go to the movie or theatre with my sister, go to the botanic garden to walk with my father, visit my friends in São Paulo city and go to the club to swim and sunbathe. I'm Catholic, so on Sundays I often go to church and sometimes I help in the church parties.

About my experience with children, I always helped my aunts to take care of my little cousins and when I was 17, I usually visited an orphanage next to my school and helped in the church. Recently, when I'm in Americana, I often help my bestfriend's mother to take care of her youngest daughter, Emilly. She is 10 years old and I usually take her to the park or ride a bike, help her to do her homework, cook and play with her and take her to swim in the pool too.

When I go to São Paulo city, I often help my sister's bestfriend to take care of her son, Felipe. He is 2 years old and I usually take him for walks, I prepare and give food to him, bathe him and change his diapers, play with him, read stories to him and take him to bed. Felipe is like a nephew to me!

Another thing that I do is help my English teacher as volunteer. I usually help her in her classes with children. I participate in games, activities and lessons that are given in classes. Helping my teacher is very good because I'm involved with kids and the English idiom at the same time.

I decided to be an au pair a long time ago, but I waited for my graduation because I feel more prepared to have this experience now. I have chosen the Au Pair program because it will give me the opportunity to improve my English and I think that learn about another culture is very important for my personal and professional life. I really like children and the Au Pair program is the best way to connect what I want with what I like and need.

During the program, I intend to teach your kids something and also learn from them. I expect to be their big sister and soon be considered as a family member. I'm sure it will be a great experience in my life and I'm excited!
